New Jersey Busted Mugshots is a private reference site, not a government office. We cannot confirm a person’s custody or release, provide or remove a booking photo, post bond, or retrieve an official record. For a current answer or a record copy, contact the agency that holds that record.
Choose the New Jersey Record Holder
New Jersey has no single sheriff or jail records desk for statewide bookings. County agencies keep local booking information, while state, court, federal, and archival records have different custodians. Start with the county where the arrest occurred, then follow the official path for the record type:
- For a local arrest, use the County Directory to select the county. Its guide identifies the official roster, local feed, and records-request route when those are available.
- For a county booking record or photo, the statewide home guide explains how the request goes to the agency that created or holds it. A photo request is distinct from a request for arrest information.
- For a person reported as wanted, start with the Most Wanted Fugitives guide, then confirm any current status with the agency or court that issued the notice.
- For someone in state prison, use the official New Jersey Department of Corrections Offender Information page. If you need a specific NJDOC-held record not shown there, use New Jersey OPRA Central, select the agency that holds the record, and describe the person and existing record as precisely as possible.
- For a criminal case, use New Jersey Courts Find a Case. Court case information is not a live county jail roster.
- For historic state-held material, use the New Jersey State Archives search and contact page. County or municipal booking records may remain with the original agency rather than the Archives.
- For federal custody, consult the Federal Bureau of Prisons locator or ICE Online Detainee Locator. These are separate from New Jersey county booking systems.
A missing name on a public roster is not proof that no arrest or custody record exists. Some New Jersey counties publish limited information or no public roster.
